18 Weeks Old

Well Sofi is growing like a weed and developing perfectly! We went to the pediatrician's office this week. Here is a picture of Sofi with our pediatrician. We love her! She says that Sofi is developmentally advanced! She must have her daddy's genes...Sofi now:

weighs 13 lbs.

and is 24 in. long

Both put her in the 50th percentile for her age

Sofi is such a good, happy, content baby! She's been rolling from her tummy to her back for weeks now. But just this week has started completely rolling over from back to tummy and then back over. Here is a video:
She also:
-is starting to crawl. It's soo cute to see her move her little legs anxiously trying to move!
-is talking (cooing) more and more
-is very interested in everything going on around her
-LOVES to be read to, especially turning the pages
-reaches up to us when she is tired and wants us to put her to sleep
-loves touching our faces
-is facinated by hands (hers and anyone that is holding her)
-loves her reflection in the mirror!
-loves singing along with us
-loves to sit in her bumbo chair on the counter
I think I mentioned before that Sofi and I love going to Reading Hour at the local library every day. Sofi loves all the kids and the colorful, vibrant storytellers. Here is a picture of us at the library:
Here are some other pictures from the past couple of weeks.
Sofi and I got to meet Simon and some people that he works with at the Surin last night. Here are a couple of pictures:

What a Week! - Flu, Sofi's Cuteness, the Zoo, and Reading Hour

Well, this has been quite the week! Simon and I caught a virus that lasted for a while and it was awful! I got it first and then passed it on to Simon (nothing says I love you like passing on a virus :). Weird thing is that I NEVER get sick. I don't get colds, runny noses, etc. So, this was the first time that Simon has see me sick. I have to say, being sick and trying to take care of a baby is not fun! You still have to go on despite the fact that you feel miserable! Sofi was very patient and such a trooper and she didn't catch it! She is such a great, happy, content baby.

Speaking of Sofi, she does the most amazing things latetly.
When I pick her up or am holding her, she caresses my face and reached up to take my hand. It MELTS my heart! She does the same thing with Simon. My goodness do I love this little girl! She is also talking so much more and crawls around on her mat and in her crib. It's pretty hilarious because I never know where in the crib I am going to find her! I put her down for naps and at night in the middle of the crib and when I go to check on her she is somewhere different. We love her tons!

Since Simon was sick longer than I was, Sofi and I decided to get out of the house. We met up with Jennifer and some other friends for family day at the Zoo. I'd never been, so it was fun to visit and hang out with great friends.

Sofi and I also have been visiting the local library for reading hour three times a week and it is wonderful! Yesterday, we met up with Faye Norris and Elena there for Story Time for those 3 and under. The story tellers are SO great and captivating! Sofi loves the bright colors of the books more than anything.

Just Because...More Cuteness (Pictures from today)

So precious...Look at that face...
I LOVE this picture...("Okay, mom enough already...")
Starting to rollover...

Sofi's 16 Weeks Old - 4 Months

Last night, we decided to take advantage of babysitting provided at the church while we attended the temple. I was so excited to go because I hadn't been since Sofi was born. But alas, we couldn't get in due to a technical error, but it still counts because we made an effort, right? Here are a couple of pics from last night...
Well, Sofi is now 16 weeks old and she just couldn't be a more content, happy baby! We've had a a lot of fun with her and she is really enjoying her "daddy-daughter" times. They went to the grocery store yesterday and Simon called to tell me that he was teaching Sofi about "textures". They were in the produce section and he was letting her feel different items. Isn't that cute? I wish I had been there to snap a picture...I tell ya, Sofi is going to be one smart young lady! She LOVES books and looking at everything.
Here are some recent photos of Sofi at 16 weeks:

An Important Name and the Joy of Parenthood!

We've been gone to Atlanta and Gainesville visiting both sides of the family. Now, we are back and can blog. We had a lot of fun visiting everyone and Sofi got to spend time with her great-grandmother, for whom she is named after (Simon's grandmother). It was really special to see them together. Sofi is named after a great person and we can't wait to share her history with Sofi when she gets older! We also got copies of some really neat Gray family photos. I brought the camera to take pictures, but forgot to bring the charger, so I was out of luck! But, Grandma Gray came through and took some pictures for us. Once she emails them, I will load them.
Here is a picture of great-grandma Frances Davis Townsend and great-grandpa Floyd Townsend: I think that this is Grandma Elsie Gray:
I love these pictures. They capture such wonderful times and they all look so happy! Sofi definitely has a great legacy and a wonderful name, representing a wonderful person!
On another note, my most favorite time of all is just before bed and we are all snuggled together. We have Sofi in between us and we sing to her and just talk. Sofi babbles on and on and it melts our hearts! She also sings back to us and it is SO precious (maybe she and Simon will one day perform concerts with her singing and Simon playing the piano). She concentrates so hard on talking and singing and her eyes get watery with excitement. It's as though she wants us to know something very important...
Sofi is 15 weeks old now and here are some things that we LOVE about her:
-She goes with me to the gym and watches me exercise. In step aerobics, she sits in her car seat in the classroom and is just content watching me and all the other people step our hearts away.
-She smiles everytime she sees us and laughs when we are being funny
-She loves rolling around on the floor with Simon
-She loves falling asleep on Simon's chest
-She loves when we read to her and she has learned to turn the page
-She is curious about everything and looks around constantly, especially people's faces (this makes feeding time extra long some days)
-She cuddles up to us for our family Sunday nap
-She is almost sleeping through the night!
We go back to the pediatrician on the 22nd, so we will see how much she weighs. I think that it's around 12-13 lbs. She's got the cutest rolls on her legs now! Here are some pics from the week:
